Kyle Larson became eligible to compete in the 2021 All-Star race at Texas Motor Speedway through his first win of the season in Las Vegas but could have also relied on his 2019 All-Star race win if needed. He was strong all race long but did have some tough competition vying for that $1 million dollar prize. six stages and an unpredictable format made for a wild night of money chasing.

A hot slick day at Texas Motor Speedway made for loose conditions for a lot of drivers including Christopher Bell who brought out the first caution of the night with the help of Ross Chastain, he was able to save the car with no damage. Chastain who would spin late in the race causing the second caution of the night got into the show by winning stage 2 of the open showdown to lock himself into the all-star event. Other drivers who had raced there way into the event included Tyler Reddick and Aric Almirola while Matt Dibenedetto secured the fan vote.

The stage format included partial field inversions that were at random selection that made being in the top 10 that much more important at the end of every stage. during the fifth stage a mandatory green flag pitstop was made that awarded $100,000 to the team with the fastest pit time during the stop.

It was a 10 lap shootout that saw a battle between Hendrick Motorsports and Penske as the top five consisted of Larson, Chase Elliott, Brad Keselowski, William Byron and Ryan Blaney. The five drivers would get thinned out in the closing laps as Elliott would settle for third and the 2 car of Keselowski was a little too late as Larson would hold him off to secure the $1 million winning prize.
