30-Second Read: Newgarden's mechanical woes hand Palou his second win of the year

Joesf Newgarden came in to Road America with high expectations to rebound after a disappointing outing at the second race of the Detroit doubleheader. For Newgarden, he led 32 laps of the scheduled 55 laps that make up the Rev Group Grand Prix. Coming off the final restart with two laps to go, Newgarden's auto-blip throttle system, which allows seamless gear changes, failed which forced him to go to a manual shift mode, which made him lose valuable time. Leading to a 21st place finish.

For Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing, he ran up towards the front all day. Took advantage of the misfortune and took his second win of the year. He leaves Road America with a 28 point lead in the championship standings over Pato O'Ward as the series takes a week off and will return Sunday, July 4th for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio.
