(Denny Hamlin celebrates with a burnout after winning the Southern 500)       https://twitter.com/NASCARonNBC/status/1434730938529951744?s=20 Denny Hamlin, after coming up short all season finally earned his first win of the season at the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. This marked his fourth win at Darlington he is now only the fourth driver in history to win the Southern 500 for a third time. With it being the first race of the 10 race playoffs, all 16 playoff drivers started in the top 16 starting positions with Ryan Blaney on the pole and Hamlin in second. Darlington, which is well known for being the track that's ''too tough to tame'', really lived up to it's name. Playoff contender Alex Bowman brings out the first caution of the night with a tire issue sending him into the wall on lap 17. Kurt Busch passes Blaney for the lead as Bowman brings out the caution.                                   (Alex Bowman celebrates after winning at Pocono Raceway)       https://twitter.com/TeamHendrick/status/1408920506800160774?s=20 Luck just happened to be on Alex Bowman's side today for the Pocono Organics CBD 325 in race one of the Pocono doubleheader weekend. Only leading 16 of the 130 lap scheduled race, it was lady luck helping Bowman secure the victory as Kyle Larson in the final lap would run into problems as a flat tire would send him from the lead to finishing ninth place as the 48 car would pass him into the final turn to take the win over his teammate. Cole Custer would have his day ended early near the end of stage one as he would come up the race track on the long front straightaway while Brad Keselowski dove down trying to pass and avoid him, the two would ultimately make contact and send Custer hard into the wall with a lot of damage.                               (Kyle Busch celebrates in Victory Lane at Pocono Raceway)       https://twitter.com/ToyotaRacing/status/1409284775983132674?s=20 Kyle Busch and the number 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota found there way to victory lane for his second win of the year, but not without good strategy and a lot of luck. Fuel mileage would make all the difference in race two of the Pocono doubleheader. As per the rules of the doubleheader weekend, the top 20 finishers of race one started inverted which put Michael McDowell and Chris Buescher on the front row for the start of the race.  Stage one though saw early troubles for McDowell's teammate Anthony Alfredo, as he had a tire go down and would hit the wall bringing out the first caution of the day on lap two. Martin Truex Jr would go on to win the first stage as William Byron would race his way back on to the lead lap by beating Truex...

(Kyle Larsons celebrates with a burnout after winning at Nashville Superspeedway)       https://twitter.com/LegendsNascar/status/1406782146136662016?s=20 Kyle Larson seems to be unbeatable, notching his third consecutive race win (Fourth win including the All-Star race). A race high of 264 laps led during the Ally 400 showed Larson's dominance throughout the day as he led early in the race and often on route to his fourth win of the season. as the laps winded down in Nashville, Larson may have had 99 problems but fuel mileage wasn't one of them. For the first time in almost a decade NASCAR made it's return to Nashville Superspeedway and with no practice or qualifying, there were lots of surprises throughout the day. Quin Houff brought out the first caution of the day as a tire fell off due to not being tight on from the start. Chase Briscoe had an impressive showing running second and challenging fo...

(Kyle Larson celebrates in Texas victory lane)       https://twitter.com/nascarcasm/status/1404271430221668352?s=20 Kyle Larson became eligible to compete in the 2021 All-Star race at Texas Motor Speedway through his first win of the season in Las Vegas but could have also relied on his 2019 All-Star race win if needed. He was strong all race long but did have some tough competition vying for that $1 million dollar prize. six stages and an unpredictable format made for a wild night of money chasing. A hot slick day at Texas Motor Speedway made for loose conditions for a lot of drivers including Christopher Bell who brought out the first caution of the night with the help of Ross Chastain, he was able to save the car with no damage. Chastain who would spin late in the race causing the second caution of the night got into the show by winning stage 2 of...

30 Second Read: Martin Truex Jr Dominates The Goodyear 400

Image
(Martin Truex Jr in victory lane at Darlington, May 9,2021)   https://twitter.com/SpeedwayMedia/status/1391578340054740994?s=20 Martin Truex Jr put of a dominating performance on route to victory lane at the Goodyear 400 in Darlington South Carolina. Sweeping both stages with little to no competition until the final stage as Kyle Larson gave it all he had in the closing laps. Typically the throwback weekend is ran during the Southern 500 at Darlington but this year with the track given two dates on the schedule, the 400 mile race put on the now traditional 'retro' show. Kyle Busch who ran fast all day, had tire problems early. His right rear tire tore apart making him spin. This brought out the first caution. Tires seemed to be an ongoing issue for a lot of the drivers as grip was hard to find. Stewart Haas Racing drivers Aric Almirola and Cole Custer crashed out early in separate incidents, but very similar fashion. Both driv...

(Kyle Busch celebrates after his victory at Kansas Speedway)                             Photo : https://twitter.com/ToyotaRacing/status/1388992483829424129?s=20 Sunday marked the 16th consecutive season that Kyle Busch has gone to victory lane. The no. 18 M&M's Toyota Camry carried a consistent pace throughout the day and showed that the curse of Kansas Speedway has been lifted for the Joe Gibbs Racing driver. Busch won stage one as well as the race win but had to hold off challengers. In what seemed like another edition of the Kyle and Kyle show, Kyle Larson showed again why he is a force to be reckoned with. With a stage 2 victory, Larson remained in the top 5 all day until the final restart that resulted in what could have been a massive wreck off of turn two turning Ryan Blan...

Only leading one lap, the most important lap. the number 2 Money Lion Ford Mustang was fast all day being in the lead pack for the majority of the race. It's not if but when for the "Big One" at Talladega... and the aggressive nature of the drivers took over. The Big one never stood out as the most violent crash of the day, claiming victim Joey Logano in what is described as a product of Talladega. He flipped over multiple times on the entrance of turn three, causing safety concerns and complaints from the driver. When asked about the flip he told Jamie Little of Fox NASCAR  "I'm one hit away f...

The Crew: Netflix's new sitcom and what could it mean for the impact of NASCAR?

Image
( Freddie Stroma as Jake Martin and Kevin James as Kevin Gibson)      If Days of Thunder and Talladega Nights had a love child, this Netflix sitcom The Crew makes light of the life a NASCAR race team goes through through an entire season. There is currently only a single season on the streaming site which includes 10 episodes. The premiere season covers different topics within the sport and clever jokes that poke fun at different characters, most prominently lead characters Jake, Kevin and Amir. The show includes cameos from current NASCAR stars Ryan Blaney, Austin Dillon and sophomore Cole Custer. Plenty of pleasant banter between drivers and team members. While the storylines are fictional, the series is a reflection of the current culture in the NASCAR garage throughout a racing weekend.  When considering ...
