In case you missed it , StatChat is counting down the days ‘til the 2021 Daytona 500.  Every two days, we will have a new article featuring one of the Top 30 Drivers of 2020.    4 th Place – Denny Hamlin – 5033 pts   By the Numbers:   7 Wins in 2020 – Kevin Harvick might have been the cream of the crop this year when it came to wins, but Denny Hamlin was a close second.  He collected 7 wins over the course of the season, a feat he had only bested once before, when he scored 8 in 2010.    9.31 Average Finish – Despite one less win than in 2010, Hamlin had a much more consistent year in 2020.  This year he had a 9.31 average finish, while 2010’s was 12.94 – a difference of 3.63 spots.  This year’s average finish was the best of his career, but 2010 – despite an extra win – was only his 8 th best season.   4 th Best Career Win Percentage – Denny Hamlin has racked up 44 wins over the 542 starts he’s had in his Cu...

Cup Series Talladega Race Review

    Denny Hamlin wins a wild one in Talladega. In one of the most controversial finishes in NASCAR history, the double yellow line played a major impact in the finish of another Talladega race.  The entire race was sloppy in the best way possible, as the race set a new track record of 13 cautions, and only two playoff drivers finished in the top 10.     Stage 1 featured one of the messiest starts to a race I have ever seen. NASCAR had planned for a competition caution on lap 25, but NASCAR had three cautions before the competition caution.  The early race wrecks lead playoff favorites Denny Hamlin, and Kevin Harvick to ride around in the back waiting. A late stage incident involving Alex Bowman and Aric Almirola gifted Chris Buescher the stage win.      Stage 2 featured a scary wreck where Kurt Busch went airnorn, riding on the hood of Cole Custer's car. In case you missed it , StatChat is counting down the days ‘til the 2021 Daytona 500.  Every two days, we will have a new article featuring one of the Top 30 Drivers of 2020.    12 th Place – Clint Bowyer – 2254 pts   By the Numbers:   4 Stage Wins – Coming into the 2020 season, Clint Bowyer had won 3 stages in his career, one in each of the previous three years.  This year, he won 4 stages, surpassing his career total.  He won both stages at Darlington 2, one at Michigan 2, and another at Texas 2.   2 nd Place – Bowyer’s best finish of the year quietly came at the first Bristol Race, where he finished 2 nd .  The spotlight was stolen from Clint and eventual race winner Brad Keselowski as everyone was focused on Joey Logano and Chase Elliott, who tangled with each other with 3 laps to go.   50% Finishes from 11-20 th – Clint Bowyer finished outside of the Top 20 only 6 times in 2020, and finished inside the Top 10...
