BREAKING : Ross Chastain to #42 , Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet in 2021

NASCAR driver Ross Chastain has finally landed with the #42 Chevrolet, driving for Chip Ganassi Racing. He will drive the #42 car in the cup series for the entire 2021 Cup Series schedule. The Alva, Florida watermelon farmer was believed to be one of Ganassi's long-term driver choices until their Xfinity sponsor DC Solar ran into legal trouble in 2018 and was no longer affiliated with the team. In three races with Chip Ganassi Racing at the Xfinity level, Chastain has a win, a third, and a fifth place finish. 

Since 2017, Chastain has 1 top 10 in 79 career cup series starts. He has driven for Roush-Fenway Racing and Spire Motorsports in 2020's Cup campaign and is known for heavy participation across all three of the national touring series. An announcement regarding the team's future will be made today that he will replace Matt Kenseth behind the wheel of the #42 for the 2021 season. The #42 became vacant this season after Kyle Larson's use of a racial slur resulted in his termination. Details on sponsorship and contract terms are not yet available.

All three of NASCAR's National Touring series came into the weekend on a level playing field.  All three series were entering their Round of 8.  All three series had the same 4 tracks left in front of them.  Finally, all three series presented an opportunity to 8 drivers to go out and clinch their shot at a championship in Phoenix.  For the Truck series, that's exactly what the 8 remaining playoff drivers set out to do.  Ultimately, only one could lock up a spot in the Championship 4.  However, the playoff battle was not the only story, perhaps not even the biggest story of the day.  This was because rising star Hailie Deegan was set to make her first ever NASCAR Touring series start.  Deegan was driving the #17 Ford F150 for DGR Crosley Racing, a ride which was announced later in the race that she would be driving in the Truck Series in 2021.  The round of 8 was set to begin. The 2021-22 silly season has been another wild one thus far. The most surprising news was originally  Brad Keselowski going to Roush-Fenway Racing as the driver and co-owner of the #6 Ford. However, that quickly became the worst-kept secret in NASCAR. The real shocker came when Chip Ganassi sold all of his NASCAR assets to Trackhouse Racing.  Ross Chastain will drive a second car for Trackhouse, the #1 will transfer along with other team assets. Sticking with the Ganassi/Trackhouse deal.... While nothing has been confirmed in regards to Kurt Busch’s 2022 plans, there’s heavy speculation that he could be driving a second car for 23XI Racing.
