      By Justin Segar -         It's Chase Elliott's world, and we're all living in it. After a dominant performance Chase Elliott wins the race, and the 2020 Cup Series Championship. Phoenix Raceway hosted the championship race for the first time in the tracks history, and I do not think that it lived up to expectations, nor did it live up to the standard of a championship race. It was incredibly hard to pass, and it made the race come down to the race off of pit road, and restarts.      Although the stages don't matter much at all for those in the Championship Four Chase Elliott destroyed the field after he started in the back for failing pre race inspection twice. The remaining three drivers in the Championship Four largely controlled the race especially Joey Logano who lead basically the entire stage. Deep in the desert of Arizona, there was a championship feel in the air as NASCAR's three National touring series all crowned a new champion.  This championship weekend started off with the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck series.  This was really the only true "night" race of the weekend, which added a special intensity to the championship race.  It proved to be Grant Enfinger vs. GMS in the championship hunt.  Zane Smith, Brett Moffitt, and Sheldon Creed, all GMS drivers, joined Enfinger as contenders for the title.  Who would prevail and become the 2020 Truck series champion?   Phoenix, Arizona The NASCAR championship seasons have formally ended. After what felt like to many in the industry to be the longest season ever as in ran in conjunction with the Covid-19 epidemic, NASCAR managed to return to competition this summer before any major sport. Three winner-takes-all events were held last weekend at Phoenix and three historic champions were crowned. Sheldon Creed won the NASCAR Gander RV and Outdoors Truck Series Championship after rushing from 8th to 1st in NASCAR Overtime on Friday night. Our team covered the final laps of the event during our live Racing Refresh weekly production.  Logan - Chase Elliott  Zach - Denny Hamlin:   Eventually Denny Hamlin has got to win one right? Denny Hamlin is my pick because he has the best stats at Phoenix amongst this year's Championship Four. He has the best average finish, most Top 10s, and Top 5s, as well as 2 Wins tying with Joey Logano. I wouldn't be surprised if a non Championship Four driver (Harvick) wins this race, and if that's the case I will take Denny Hamlin and his stats at Phoenix in a one off championship race. It all comes down to this.  35 races have led to this final contest.  16 playoff drivers have been whittled down to the Final Four.  There can only be one champion, but who is favoured to take the W? With the final race of the year taking place at Phoenix for the first time, let’s take a closer look:   Phoenix Raceway is a 1-mile tri-oval, making it the first time a championship has been crowned at a short track.  This weekend’s race will fittingly be called the Season Finale 500.  Phoenix was built in 1964, but did not start hosting NASCAR events until 1988.    The race will be 312 laps long (for a total of 312 miles), with stage breaks occurring at 75 – 190 – 312.  The fuel window is approximately 90-95 laps, though tire wear may result in drivers pitting sooner than that.   This year, the Cup Series has now raced a total of 13,201.83 miles.   Top 5 Career Average Finishers at Phoenix: Kevin Harvick ...

  Las Vegas, Nevada played home to the final elimination event in the 2020 Mello Yello NHRA Drag Racing Championship. The drivers pressed their luck for the final time and 4 champions were crowned.            A race that truly took days to get through was surprisingly underrated in my opinion. After several misty days in Texas Kyle Busch finally won his first Cup race of the season, and it greatly impacted the playoff battle. Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick struggling plus a playoff driver not winning at Texas really makes Martinsville a must win situation for the bottom four playoff drivers.      Stage One started on Sunday afternoon, and it created the story lines for Wednesday including Denny Hamlin getting out of the groove losing valuable track position, and Kevin Harvick getting loose hitting the wall creating a consistent issue with damage. After the race weekend that refused to end in Texas, a non-playoff driver victory meant that the playoff picture was still very much up in the air heading into Martinsville this Sunday.  A minimum of 2 drivers will now make the Final 4 on points alone.  Who has the advantage heading into this weekend? Let’s take a closer look:   Martinsville Speedway is a 0.526 mile short-track oval – the shortest track currently on the NASCAR circuit.  This weekend’s race will (confusingly) be called the Xfinity 500.  Martinsville is the only current track that has been on the NASCAR schedule every year since its inception, having been built in 1947.  Nicknamed “The Paperclip,” it is also unique in that it’s the only NASCAR track to have asphalt straightaways with concrete in the corners.    The race will be 500 laps long (for a total of 263 miles), with stage breaks occurring at 130 – 260 – 500.  The fuel window is approximately 145-155 laps, t...

  The GoFas Racing Team operated by Archie St. Hilaire has announced that they will be transitioning into a part-time effort beginning with the 2021 season. They have competed full-time for from 2014 to 2020 in NASCAR's premiere series.  Team Owner Hilaire provided this statement regarding the change. "It has been a lot of fun over the years but with the evolution of life, your priorities change. With my son [and GM of Go Fas] Mason moving on to start his own business in a different industry and myself getting ready to spend time with my daughter having my first grandchild, I feel its time to reevaluate the next chapter of my life.
