NTT IndyCar Series Race Preview: Music City Grand Prix

          After taking a month off after the the July 4th shootout that saw Josef Newgarden take Penske's first win of 2021. The stars of the series heads to the home of country music as the first ever Music City Grand Prix takes place through the streets of downtown Nashville, Tennessee. This race marks the beginning of separating the contenders from the pretenders in this years quest for the Astor Cup as the season winds down with only six races left to go. Track Facts:  The Downtown Nashville Street Circuit is an 11 turn, 2.17 mile temporary street circuit that incorporates the area surrounding the home of the Tennessee Titans. With the primary piece that the circuit will show off is the crossing of the Cumberland River via Korea  Veterans Memorial Bridge. Bristol Cup Race Recap

    Saturday night was a throwback of sorts, a vintage-feeling Bristol Night Race that was dominated by Kevin Harvick. The bottom line returned to fame as the bump and run was the best method for passing, especially the first 400 laps of this race. Overall an underwhelming Bristol race considering modern day multi-grooved Bristol barely showed up, and the bump and run being a forgotten art, but the finish really saved this race.           Chase Elliott won stage one, but Kyle Busch was in hot pursuit after he started in the back for failing pre race inspection. Stage one was fairly clean except for contact between Jimmie Johnson and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. while they were trying to pass a lapped car. Stage one felt like the calm  before the storm. The no. 18 M&M's Toyota Camry carried a consistent pace throughout the day and showed that the curse of Kansas Speedway has been lifted for the Joe Gibbs Racing driver. Busch won stage one as well as the race win but had to hold off challengers. In what seemed like another edition of the Kyle and Kyle show, Kyle Larson showed again why he is a force to be reckoned with.
