Three laps after the restart, the Formula One officials gave Hamilton a 10-second penalty for causing the collision all the while Leclerc increased his lead over the field. That was until lap 15 when the Ferrari of Leclerc started to cutoff due to mapping issues on the engine, but he solved his problem and pulled clear of DRS range.

From lap 22 to 30, the field made their one and only pit stops of the day. Lando Norris had a six-second stop as he had a right rear issue which gave Bottas third place. Hamilton stopped on lap 28 to serve his penalty. He came out behind Norris in fourth. Carlos Sainz had a twelve second stop to due a left front problem.

Hamilton passed Norris on lap 31 and passed Bottas on lap 41 after following team orders. Currently, Leclerc had an eight-second lead over Hamilton with twelve laps remaining. Over the next nine laps, Hamilton paced almost a second a lap faster then Leclerc. With four laps remaining, Hamilton made the pass into Copse and drove away to score his eighth British Grand Prix victory. Leclerc finished second and Bottas rounding out the podium.
