Race car driver Kyle Larson has been approved by NASCAR to return to sanctioned events beginning on January 1st, 2021. It was reported last week that Larson had applied for reinstatement after completing a mandatory sensitivity training in response to the usage of a racial slur in a virtual event earlier this year. Larson was serving an indefinite suspension from NASCAR and termination from his then employer Chip Ganassi Racing. There is much speculation as to which team Larson will race for in 2021, with most rumours pointing at Hendrick Motorsports. This news was first announced by Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass. NASCAR provided the  below comment earlier today.

The team will be affiliated through a technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing Photo Source : Twitter.com/TeamTrackHouse Per Adam Stern of the Sports Business Journal, Justin Marks will announce formally today that he has started a new NASCAR Cup Series team called 'Team Trackhouse'. Marks, the successful multi-disciplined racer competed in NASCAR's premiere series a total of 6 times with a best finish of 12th in the 2018 Daytona 500. The 39 year old from St. Louis Missouri has one NASCAR win coming in an Xfinity deal at Mid-Ohio in 2016, and has found other success in sports car racing primarily. This is not Marks' first business venture, he and his father of operated and managed multiple businesses in the past. Currently, Marks co-owns GoPro Motorplex, located 30 miles north of Charlotte, North Carolina.

  Two time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch was expected to be a front runner this weekend at Bristol's annual night race. He, along with his two teammates Denny Hamlin and Erik Jones will have their work cut out tonight. The three Joe Gibbs Racing teammates failed inspection prior to the race and are going to start from the rear of the field.  Denny Hamlin has 6 wins in 28 starts heading into Bristol, while Busch and Jones are winless. This is the third consecutive race Busch's #18 Toyota has failed inspection, also doing so at Richmond and Darlington. 

  Current Drivers Edge Development Driver Sam Mayer is said to announce later today that he has signed a contract extension with JR Motorsports for his immediate future. Mayer, who has driven for both GMS Motorsports and JR Motorsports in the past is considered to be one of the most anticipated and talented  young drivers in Chevrolet's development chain.  Details on the agreement with JR Motorsports include a part-time debut in the Xfinity Series in the 2021 campaign, followed by full-time racing in the Xfinity Series in 2022.  The Wisconsin native is currently only 17 years old but already has three years of national racing under his belt. He races in the ARCA Menards Series where he has 4 wins. He also raced in the Arca Menards East and West regional touring divisions, and has made 6 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series starts in last two seasons with a best finish of 4th this season at Gateway. 

  ( Photo Source : Twitter.com/Team_Penske ) Brad Keselowski's #2 Alliance Parts Team Penske Ford finished the evening in victory lane after leading nearly half of the scheduled 400 laps on Richmond's .75 mile oval. Pre-race favorite Martin Truex Jr. was not as fortunate, finishing 2.568 seconds behind in second place. Pole sitter Kevin Harvick finished 7th.  Every caution in Saturday night's event was predetermined. There was one competition caution, and a caution at the end of the first and second stage of the event. No wrecks or debris caused the race to break.   The win tonight is Brad's fourth of the 2020 season, second at Richmond Raceway, and 34th career win in the NASCAR Cup Series.  Reported first by Jordan Bianchi of the Athletic, it has been announced that Darrell Wallace Jr. will not be returning to the #43 Richard Petty Motorsports Entry. He notified the team of this news earlier in the week. Wallace's name has been listed as one of the biggest pieces to the silly season puzzle, and widespread news that he has at very least had meetings with Chip Ganassi Racing while looking at different job opportunities for next season.  Wallace is the only African American driver to have completed full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series in more than one full season.   7-Time Champion Jimmie Johnson announced via Twitter today that he would be participating in the NTT Indycar Series in 2021 and 2022. His commitment has been reported to be for street and road-course events only with a possibility of running in his first Indianapolis 500 in 2022. Johnson's initial interest in the Indianapolis 500 was limited due to safety but he stated he was impressed with the results of the new aeroscreen on the open-wheeled race cars. No mention of Jimmie's potential part-time future in NASCAR was made during the announcemen t.
