NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Review: Lucas Oil 150

Image
Deep in the desert of Arizona, there was a championship feel in the air as NASCAR's three National touring series all crowned a new champion.  This championship weekend started off with the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck series.  This was really the only true "night" race of the weekend, which added a special intensity to the championship race.  It proved to be Grant Enfinger vs. GMS in the championship hunt.  Zane Smith, Brett Moffitt, and Sheldon Creed, all GMS drivers, joined Enfinger as contenders for the title.  Who would prevail and become the 2020 Truck series champion? The race started out with Enfinger, with his championship competitors in toe, leading the field to green.  By the end of the first lap, Enfinger was already at the bottom of the championship 4.  Zane Smith got out to an early lead over his two GMS championship competitors.  Smith held on to lead the majority of the laps in Stage 1 and win the stage.  However, no ...

NASCAR Championships Settled : Creed , Cindric , and Elliott Crowned Champions

Phoenix, Arizona The NASCAR championship seasons have formally ended. After what felt like to many in the industry to be the longest season ever as in ran in conjunction with the Covid-19 epidemic, NASCAR managed to return to competition this summer before any major sport. Three winner-takes-all events were held last weekend at Phoenix and three historic champions were crowned. Sheldon Creed won the NASCAR Gander RV and Outdoors Truck Series Championship after rushing from 8th to 1st in NASCAR Overtime on Friday night. Our team covered the final laps of the event during our live Racing Refresh weekly production. This is his first championship in NASCAR, and second truck-based championship as he also is a past champion in Robby Gordon's truck circuit.  In the Xfinity Series, the winningest driver on the circuit was not the winner, as would be the case in the Cup Series. Chase Briscoe was not able to pull off the feel-good story by winning at Phoenix, instead his rival and fel...

NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Review: Clean Harbors 200

All three of NASCAR's National Touring series came into the weekend on a level playing field.  All three series were entering their Round of 8.  All three series had the same 4 tracks left in front of them.  Finally, all three series presented an opportunity to 8 drivers to go out and clinch their shot at a championship in Phoenix.  For the Truck series, that's exactly what the 8 remaining playoff drivers set out to do.  Ultimately, only one could lock up a spot in the Championship 4.  However, the playoff battle was not the only story, perhaps not even the biggest story of the day.  This was because rising star Hailie Deegan was set to make her first ever NASCAR Touring series start.  Deegan was driving the #17 Ford F150 for DGR Crosley Racing, a ride which was announced later in the race that she would be driving in the Truck Series in 2021.  The round of 8 was set to begin. Sheldon Creed continued his dominant performance as he took the le...

NASCAR Gander RV and Outdoors Trucks Review: Chevrolet Silverado 250

It was typical Talladega!  That's the best way to describe this weekends truck race.  The only added pressure the trucks had is that it was a playoff cutoff race.  Ten drivers went into Talladega with a shot to win a championship, but only eight of them left with that same chance.  The action was wild.  The race was awesome.  It was everything a fan should expect when you combine the wild nature of Talladega, and the competitive nature of the NASCAR Truck series. Sheldon Creed led the field to the green flag with Austin Hill right beside him.  Grant Enfinger had trouble early as a tire went down for him on the left rear.  This did not bring out the caution ,though, which put Enfinger multiple laps down as his team fixed the truck.  The first major event of the day happened as a result of those two battling up front with 8 laps to go in the stage.  Hill had a charge to the front and Creed tried to block the #16.  The two made c...

The NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series Playoffs are finally here. The playoffs begin Thursday night at Bristol Motor Speedway. It has been a wild 2020 truck series season, and the playoffs only prove to be crazier.      Ten drivers made the truck series playoffs featuring some of the best tracks in the series. The first round has races at Bristol, Las Vegas, and Talladega. The second round includes Kansas, Texas, and Martinsville. The championship race is at Phoenix. The series has raced at Las Vegas, Kansas, and Texas already this season.     GMS Racing : Drivers - Sheldon Creed, Zane Smith, Brett Moffitt, and Tyler Ankrum. The GMS trucks have been good all season, but the shocker from this group is that 2018 series champion Brett Moffitt is winless. Second year driver Sheldon Creed has been on a roll here at the end of the season with wins at Kentucky, Gateway, and the Daytona Road Course. Rookie Zane Smith has won tw...
